Disabled facilities grants (DFGs)

What does it do?

Disabled facilities grants (DFGs) can be requested to help meet the cost of providing facilities and adaptations enabling people with disabilities to access their home and the facilities within it. DFGs are available to private tenants and people who own their own home.

Adaptation works carried out through DFGs in Merton include external ramping to entrance doors, stairlifts, level access showers and automatic toilets. An assessment must be made by a qualified Occupational Therapist to decide what works are required to meet the needs of the person with disabilities.

The DFG is subject to a financial test of resources, which calculates your contribution towards the cost of any grant eligible works.
