Community Action Dacorum

Community Action Dacorum

What does it do?

For more than 30 years we've provided transport solutions that enable people to live independently, socialise with others and fulfil everyday life activities.

Community Wheels:

Community Wheels hires minibuses to groups and organisations such as elderly or disabled groups, youth groups or sport clubs. We have 12 minibuses that can each take 12 to 16 passengers, plus the driver, and most have passenger lifts and removable seats so that wheelchairs can be accommodated. Minibuses can be hired as a self-drive or with a volunteer driver.

For full details of our terms & conditions of hire and hire rates please go to our website www.communityactiondacorum.org.uk

Community Cars:

Community Cars solves transport problems for less able people in Dacorum. Our team of volunteers use their own cars in their free time to drive passengers to their destinations. Anyone who can't use public transport or taxis due to mobility or medical reasons, either permanent or temporary are eligible to use the scheme.

All journeys will be considered, including...

• Hospital, doctor or dental appointments

• Visits to sick friends or relatives

• Day centres and clubs

• Community centres, libraries, hairdressers, etc

A realistic charge, based on distance, is agreed at the time of booking to cover the driver's mileage. This is currently set at 65p per mile and the minimum charge for a journey is £5.

Door to Store:

This service provides older or disabled people with safe, reliable and accessible transport to Dacorum's supermarkets. Currently the service is available in Kings Langley, Bovingdon and Berkhamsted with services being planned for other market towns and villages in Dacorum.
