Muncaster Microbus

Muncaster Microbus

What does it do?

Nearly twenty years ago a group of local volunteers set up the organisation with help from Cumbria County Council, to run a rural bus service in an area where there is no bus service. We started with an eight-seater vehicle, run with a taxi licence as a 'Taxibus'. This vehicle was replaced by a bigger vehicle and we operate a demand-responsive, registered route twice a week.

We have a number of groups who use the bus on a regular basis from primary schools, Youth Groups, church groups, Women's Institute and Theatre goers.

All of our drivers are volunteers and have full MIDAS training.

The cost of hiring the minibus is kept to a bare minimum to enable groups to use it without the worry of a large bill.

All enquiries and bookings should be directed to the Co-ordinator.
