 | What does it do?Our aim is to provide support for older, disabled or vulnerable people to help them maintain their independence and remain in their own homes for as long as they wish. Normally the people we help are living in the private sector, as an owner-occupier or private tenant but we are able to give Housing Association tenants some support aswell.
The help we offer is varied - anything from simply putting you in touch with some of our approved contractors to more extensive help to support you through the whole process of having a piece of building work carried out in your home.
We can organise repairs and improvements like heating, repairing a leaking roof or updating the electrics. We can also assist with adaptations, for example a walk-in shower if you have difficulty getting in the bath, a stairlift, a Careline emergency pendant or something as simple as a door entry system. We draw up specifications and plans as appropriate and arrange quotations from our list of approved contractors. Once the work is underway we deal with any issues as they arise and make sure everything is completed properly before we pay the contractor.
If you just need a minor adaptation like a handrail up the stairs our caseworker is qualified to assess clients needs and order equipment for them without the need to go to Social Services. |
