Exercise classes throughout Gateshead
Our classes include Tai-Chi Chi Gong, line dancing, pilates, yoga, salsa-cise, tea dance, chair based and gentle exercise to music. All of our classes are friendly, and newcomers are always made welcome. For more information, call us on 0191 4773559.

Walking Groups
Our short walks history group unveils hidden treasures about our North Eastern heritage and amazing facts to be found right on your very doorstep. For an up-to-date timetable of walks or if you would like to join the group please contact us at the above number.

Check-Mates Chess Club
Enjoy a challenging mental work out with a game of chess. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or an intermediate our volunteer and other chess club members will help you progress. This small and friendly group meets every Wednesday 12.30 till 2.30 in our Resource & Information Centre on Gateshead High Street. Please call us on 0191 4773559 to register.

Physical Activity Motivators (PAMs)
We recruit and train volunteers to support and encourage older people who have been referred to the Gateshead Opportunities for Active Lifestyles (GOALS) scheme by a health professional. Our successful team of PAMs are based in leisure and community centres throughout our Borough, as well as walking and cycling groups, swimming pools and bowling groups. If you are interested in becoming a PAM volunteer, please contact us at the number below.

Allotment Project
As part of the five-a-day initiative, primary school children learn about how to grow fruit and vegetables and the importance of healthy eating. Our allotment volunteers make learning fun and maintain established small allotment sites in specific primary schools within Gateshead.
