SeniorLink is a commercial service provided by Help the Aged. The service will equip you with a base unit with a button on it. Whenever you want to use the SeniorLink Service, you either press the button on the base unit, or the accompanying pendant or wrist strap which can be pressed from anywhere in the home or garden.

- Sheltered Housing & Supporting People
Supporting People is the new programme for delivering and paying for housing support. It was introduced in April 2003, when the planning and funding of housing support was transferred to local authorities. The majority of older people who receive this support live in sheltered housing. This leaflet explains the system and tells where to find help.

- Sheltered Housing Workbook
HQN sheltered housing workbook asks the sort of questions that the Housing Inspectorate is likely to raise during a Best Value (BV) inspection, and has been updated to include the Supporting People programme which will be incorporated into BV reviews. The workbook is aimed at helping local authorities and housing associations (RSLs) undertake an honest assessment of their provision and performance in sheltered housing and plan for continuous improvement

- Shelternet
Shelternet is an online service by Shelter, and offers information and advice on issues such as homelessness, private renting and home ownership. It tells you where to go for advice if you become homeless, if you have problems with your landlord or if you are in danger of eviction or having your home repossessed. They also provide factsheets that you can download and links to other organisations. Much of their information is geared towards younger people.

Shopmobility is a scheme that lends manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, and powered scooters to members of the public who have limited mobility, so that they can shop and visit leisure and commercial facilities within a town, city, or shopping centre, The website has a directory of these services

This book provides valuable assistance to older people by examining a range of alternative accommodation as well as help and support to remain in their own home. - SSAFA - Forces Help
SSAFA provide a variety of services for the serving and ex-service community, including housing in the form of residential care homes, bungalows for the severely disabled, semi-sheltered accommodation and temporary accommodation for separated families. They also have holiday apartments in the Isle of Wight.
Their website has information on their welfare and housing schemes for elderly and disabled service and ex-service men and their dependants and provides factsheets you can download and links to other organisations.

Their website gives you information on a variety of products such as stairlifts (for those of you who find it difficult to climb stairs), homelifts (small lifts that will fit into any home and can accommodate wheelchairs), and powerchairs.
