This residential care home scheme is managed by sons of divine providence. the idea for a seminary to train young men for the priesthood was born at a meeting with fr. carlo pensa and when a small dilapidated farmhouse came on the market very near to a large residential seminary at upholland, fr. bidone purchased this and with fr. joseph tirello and four students moved in during the winter of 1962-63. walthew green farm, as it was called, was hastily made habitable and became the novitiate house. shortly after the senior students at st. joseph's seminary were moved to ushaw college and st. joseph's became a boarding school for boys. the sons decided then to expand their work with the elderly and the new building was converted into bed-sitting rooms for elderly gentlemen and ladies and renamed cardinal heenan house. the home has been extensively refurbished in recent years and now all bedrooms have ensuite w.c.s says The idea for a seminary to train young men for the priesthood was born at a meeting with Fr.
