Manager's notes:Abbey Court is located in the Abbeyhill area of Edinburgh, close to Meadowbank Sports Centre and just a short journey from the city centre. Shops, health centres and schools are all close by. The scheme was completed in 1982 and has 42 self-contained flats of various sizes and three Sheltered Housing Officer flats. The development has a communal lounge, laundry and guest bedrooms. There is a staff office. The main building has three floors, all of which are served by a lift.

The emphasis at Abbey Court is on tenants being as independent as possible. Tenants are encouraged to undertake all aspects of day-to-day living tasks as far as they are able. For some, sheltered housing may be a first step towards independent living. Housing Services staff can advise on alternative housing options.
