A wonderful celebration of housing for later life at Ascot – 3rd February 2011

The grand reception rooms of The Pavilion at Ascot Racecourse were host to some 350 guests, a lively mix of residents, their scheme managers, their landlords, and a whole range of sponsors and other professionals. Download the Winners List

John Galvin, Chief Executive of EAC welcomed everybody “We are delighted to be able to celebrate with such a wide range of winners and thank every resident who took part in the nomination process and made this day possible. These awards not only recognise excellent standards in retirement housing, but are about involving older people in shaping its future, starting with those who live in it.”
The proceedings were brilliantly conducted throughout by Jon Hammond, Master of Ceremony.
Guest speaker BBC News anchorman, Nicholas Owen, entertained the audience with amusing anecdotes and delighted many residents by engaging them in conversation.
The splendid lunch just gave just enough time for a jury to select the 4 winners of the Hat competition from some 200 amazing hats. Each category winner received a prize of £50 (elegance, extravagance, originality and fun).

Lunch was followed by speeches by the Awards’ main corporate sponsors, Nationwide Building Society and Legal & General, outlining the importance they give to their corporate social responsibility.
