This explains the arrangements that came into effect under the Community Care & Health (Scotland) Act 2002, i.e. free personal care is available to people over 65 living in theit own home or a care home, provided that they have been assessed as needing it. Also, free nursing care is available to people of any age living in a care home subject to assessment
