The home will be just off the main Ringwood to Poole road and within easy reach of the M27 and M3, making it easily accessible from across the south of England.The 75-bed home has been designed to maximise natural light, with large windows. Dementia-friendly design has been factored into all aspects of the home, from lighting and colour schemes to signage and layout. In fact, Ferndown Manor will be divided into smaller communities: each floor will have its own dining room and lounge areas. This layout has been proven to help residents who are living with dementia to feel more secure as they prefer familiar faces and fewer disruptions. Each bedroom will have its own en-suite wet room, flatscreen TV, adjustable profile bed and 24-hour nurse call system. Residents will be free to bring their own pictures, possessions and items of furniture – whatever they need to feel more at home.
Ferndown Manor care home and gardens will be entirely wheelchair accessible. On warm days the secure, landscaped gardens will be a lovely place to sit with visitors or just to watch the wildlife on the bird tables and feeders.
