Show more "Atkinson’s Almshouse was established by Samuel Atkinson in 1679 but the original buildings were destroyed by bombs during the Second World War. They were rebuilt as bedsits in 1957 with one bathroom shared between two residents.

In 1967 the six almshouses were altered so that each had its own bathroom and then in 2010 they were demolished to make way for the new development which includes 13 almsflats and two new almshouses, all of which were completed in December 2011.

The charity aims to provide housing to people in financial hardship and it gives preference to those living in Edgware and Little Stanmore. We are cross generational, and accommodate all ages. We have five criteria's that must be met in order for anyone to be considered. We have an enquirers list that we refer to as and when a vacancy occurs." Show less
