How to use this site
Whether you are thinking ahead, or want to find a service immediately, HousingCare.org can help. Enter the different parts of the site using the Menu on the left. Red choices will take you to an introductory page; pink ones will take you straight to your choice.
Making choices
is the starting point for thinking about different ways of approaching the problems that arise as we get older.
-
Guide to options is a short but comprehensive presentation of the main alternatives you might want to consider – staying at home, moving to more suitable accommodation, and so on.
-
Our Housing appraisal tool takes a different approach. It’s a short questionnaire entitled ‘How well does your home suit you?’ Once you’ve answered a few questions, it will propose reading materials, websites or services that might be helpful.
-
The Library contains our extensive collection of factsheets, books and websites – and even a few videos. Use this if you want to home in on a particular question or problem.
- Glossary
is our ‘jargonbuster’ – short, clear explanations of some of the terms used by housing and care professionals.
- EAC Advice Line
explains how our own advisory service can step in to provide any help you need in using the website, or when you’re ready to move on and find, organise or pay for any services you decide you need.
- Our new Equity release guide is a min-website of its own, the product of a joint venture between EAC and Retirement Plus, a leading provider of equity release products for home owners. Equity release means raising money from your home. There are many things to consider before doing this, and our guide provides a fully independent introduction.
Search For
leads to all our ‘finder services’; They will help you find housing, care, advice or practical help local to you, anywhere in the UK. Over the last 15 years, EAC has compiled the huge amount of information that is available on this website. Our current work is focused particularly on newer forms of retirement housing that provide or facilitate care when needed - these may be called assisted living, extra care, close care or very sheltered housing. Also we have tracked down and documented most retirement villages in the UK. Most of what this website has to offer is contained in the 'Search For' menus or our Library.
Help
does just what it should. It offers more guidance on using the site, gives answers to common questions, shows how to make the site easier to read if you have a visual impairment, and provides complete map of what’s in this site.
