Elderly Accommodation Counsel's aim is to help older people make informed choices about meeting their housing and care needs. Founded in 1984, it became a registered charity in 1985 and is now commonly known as EAC.
Since its early days, EAC has striven to deliver a first class information and advice service to older people and their relatives and carers. At the same time, it aims to raise the awareness of other advisory agencies, professionals and policy makers of the importance older people attach to information and advice which can help them make their own decisions about how and when in older age.
More recently, EAC has been able to contribute to debate about housing and care provision - drawing on its unique combination of in-depth knowledge concerning both existing provision and actual consumer needs and preferences.
