The overarching aim of the scheme is to promote independence and choice. The scheme opened in November 2003.
Huntley House consists of 49 self contained apartments to be let unfurnished with a Licence to Occupy. The scheme is staffed 24 hours a day with support available through the night to respond to emergencies.
The apartments can accommodate either one or two people and consist of a lounge, kitchen area, en-suite shower room / toilet and bedroom that are all wheelchair accessible. Each apartment has a television aerial and telephone points together with an emergency call system. Should tenants require assistance, ranging from domestic aid to personal care, it would be available following an assessment. In addition staff at Huntley House will be available to assist with general welfare issues, accessing community services and leisure activities. Huntley House also has laundry facilities for which help will be available, should tenants need it.
Like all residents of Whiteley Village, tenants will also have access to all Village activities, including fishing from the lake.
